How Del Ozone & Aquaclipse Systems Work

Del Ozone’s Aquaclipse line (model ZO-400) uses corona discharge to generate ozone for well water treatment. The system sits outside your storage tank and works on both new and existing well setups without requiring water line connections. Unlike UV-based ozonators that rely on a single germicidal lamp, corona discharge units generate ozone more efficiently and maintain higher output over time.

Air passes through a sealed cell where a high-voltage electrical discharge converts oxygen into ozone. That ozone travels through tubing to a dispersion stone inside your tank, where it dissolves into the water and reacts with contaminants. Iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, bacteria, and organic matter get oxidized on contact. When paired with a particulate filter, the system also reduces lead and radon gases. Some homeowners pair the Aquaclipse with a downstream water softener or whole house filter for complete plumbing protection.

UV-equipped setups add a second line of defense. Water passes through a UV chamber fitted with a UV germicidal lamp replacement that destroys microorganisms the ozone didn’t catch. No chemicals are involved at any stage. We carry the three components and accessories that need periodic replacement: the WDUVB corona discharge cell, the WGUV UV ozone lamp, and the WDAP air pump.

When to Replace Your Del Ozone / Aquaclipse Parts

The WGUV UV lamp needs replacing every 12 months. The lamp may still light up after that point, but ozone-producing UV output drops steadily over time. A germicidal lamp that looks fine can already be underperforming.

The WDUVB corona discharge cell and the WDAP air pump should be replaced when output drops. The red 6 PSI check valve between the barb tee and the eductor body should be swapped every 36 to 54 months. The two white check valves should go in fresh with every UV lamp change. Check the dispersion stone regularly for mineral buildup, especially if you have hard water, and clean it before flow gets restricted.

Never Miss a Part Replacement

Ozone output doesn’t drop all at once. It fades gradually, and the first signs are usually the same problems the system was installed to fix: iron staining on fixtures, sulfur smell in the water, or discoloration coming back. AutoShip puts replacement parts at your door on the right schedule, so you catch the decline before your water quality tells you about it.
