When to Replace Your Reverse Osmosis Filters
Replace sediment and carbon pre-filters every 6 to 12 months, post filters every 6 to 12 months, and the reverse osmosis membrane every 2 to 5 years depending on the model and your tap water quality. Homes on city water with standard chlorine treatment can usually push toward the longer intervals, while well water setups or areas with high TDS will need more frequent filter replacement.
